To Bed You Go

She comes in at 3:30. The baby is happy to see her. When I see them together, the baby is lying on her mummy's tummy. She feeds her early. She puts her to bed early. The baby isn't tired. She goes for a bath. The baby cries. I stroke her hair to calm her down, but she continues to cry. She isn't tired. Mummy is in the bath. It isn't even 8:30. The baby isn't tired. I need a rest. She'll have me up all night. I get no sleep. Mummy complains she doesn't ever have a lie-in. I'm up all night five nights-a-week. The baby doesn't sleep. She never sleeps. It's too much. Maybe I should complain. Maybe one day she'll listen.
